Behind the Sketchbook
I am an artist, writer, and academic with a background in architecture and design. For as long as I can remember, I have carried a 5.5x3.5” sketchbook everywhere. Whether in New York City, where I am based, or while traveling, I use quick lines and quiet observations to capture the world as I experience it, from lively streets to quiet moments of stillness.
My work is rooted in the belief that sketching is more than just lines on paper. It is a way to slow down, notice, and connect. Each page holds a glimpse of a place, moment, and feeling recorded before it fades. Through my sketches and writing, I seek to create a sense of presence for myself and those who engage with my work.
Beyond my personal practice, I have spent years in academia exploring the intersections of art, design, and storytelling. My background in architecture has shaped the way I see and understand space. At the same time, my passion for teaching and research has deepened my appreciation for process, creativity, and the power of observation.
